I just love solid shutters in any part of the house - outside or inside. I'm trying to find a manufacturer in Australia but am having a lot of trouble. They're quite common in the US & UK (like everything else, thanks to their enormous populations!) Any ideas anyone?

I'm looking for inspiration for our family room, which encompasses the kitchen, dining and sitting area, a  'Great Room' I guess! Looking at these images, the whites, greys and blues are still a favourite...

Happy New Year!


I'm very excited about this year as the hard work of renovating is (almost) behind us. I'll never forget the day we opened the door that had been holding us in two rooms for four months...just to have another room was wonderful! The instant and visible lift in the girls was wonderful. They ran round and round and round our family room for hours. I have to say, the family room is my favourite room in the house. We can all be together, all the time!


We are still painting, as we decided to do it ourselves...so far, so good though. My neighbour commented that this particular decision would end in divorce! But to my surprise, it's actually been a fun project to do with my husband. Most of the time our focus is on our lovely girls. I was pretty nervous about colour choices but, amazingly, I absolutely love all of them. The taupe in my laundry is so lovely I go in there for a calm moment!


When the painting is finished, I'll post some before & afters. We're off for a farm holiday this week in my birth town Mirboo North. Well worth a visit as the photos show!
