Bridget's Birthday

Bridget had lots of fun yesterday at her party..and we had lots of fun creating it..She chose a Carousel theme, inspired by her favourite movie, Mary Poppins. We made a carousel cake, carousel horse chocolates, horse biscuits, marshmellow pops and other sweet things. It only took half a day of baking and it was nice to make everything ourselves..
...although I did have a few problems, being an amateur..the cake was quite tricky..when it came to assembling and decorating I found that the top cake was too small. My spare 22cm cake tin was not 22cm.. The cake had to sit on a thin cake board right to the edges to decorate it correctly. The only thing I could think of was to turn the cake tin upside down, pad it out with playdoh and cover it with the icing! I had run out of time to make another cake..Oh dear..never again will I decide to assemble the cake just before the party..

But Bridget loved it all and no one looked too closely at the cake.. xx

A bit of quiet reflection after the party..

Dreaming of merry-go-rounds..

Hi Rachel, well everything just looks fit for a princess and no doubt it was. You did a fabulous job of the cake. I have always loved that cake in the Woman's weekly but alas, no girls to make it for - ah well.... trains and cars it is!!!

Everything looks just gorgeous Rachael including the very pretty birthday girl. Despite the challenges, the cake is a triumph. I bet Adriano Zumbo will be calling you tomorrow for advice with his new range.

Oooosh! (Did anyone else ever say that, or was it a 1980's Kiwi thing?) So impressed, Rachael, that cake is awesome. The whole party is gorgeous, well done you! Lucky Bridget :)

Hi Rachael,
It looked likes a fabulous party ! I love bridget's dress , so pretty. I did the same cake for my daughters 2nd birthday & I remember wondering if the top was going to topple off! I havent been around for a couple of weeks , just quickly found some time to do a post for my James 4th Birthday & here I saw your celebration. Im glad to be back but now I have so much catching up to do. Has any one done any big reveals ?

Hey Rachael,
Thanks for the tip to checkout your post about the top 10 building/reno tips. I read George Clarke's tips...some were a bit scary such as 'make decisions early' (I am VERY indecisive) and about expecting to pay 10% more - I know this to be true but don't want to believe it! But excellent advice none the less. Thanks for the link.
X Briohny.
